TIME TRIALS - All of the info you need to know - PLEASE READ

Hello Dolphins!

We are excited for TIME TRIALS tomorrow Saturday, May 30th at the Westchester Pool. Please arrive by 8:00am. (Late arrivals will push the meet start time back.) When you arrive, please look for our coaches and let them know your swimmer has arrived. This is super important! If your swimmer doesn't arrive by 8:15 a.m., we will assume you aren't coming and will pull your swimmer from their events. If you are running late, please text Katie McBeth (713-203-9275) to let her know you are on the way. The meet will start promptly at 9am.

After you check in with a coach, look for a list of each swimmer's events. They will be posted in the pavilion near the concessions stand. There is one list for boys and one for girls. Find your swimmer, and then see what events he/she is in. Use a Sharpie to write the events on your swimmer's arm--it's also good to write it on your own arm so you can ensure your child is lined up at the right time. It is a good idea to write the events down BEFORE applying sunscreen. For our younger swimmers it will help us if you write their name on their back.

At 8:15 a.m. our team will start warm ups. (6 and Unders will not warm up)

At 8:50 a.m. the Dolphins will do the team cheer.

At 9:00 a.m., the meet will start. Clerks will help the kids get into the correct lane staging areas. We will run our group 0 25m freestyle event for all 6 and unders first. Please make sure you are paying attention to get the kids lined up as quickly as possible. Please do not go past the ropes once your kid has been lined up. I promise they will do best with their peers and we will all be helping to make them feel comfortable. The first event is the freestyle, which usually takes the longest amount of time because nearly all swimmers compete in this event. The lanes will be staged continuously so that each heat and race run immediately after the next. Be aware of when your swimmer is lining up--for example, if your child is in race 15, then he or she should be ready to line up by race 10 or 11.

Once your swimmers have completed all of their races, they are free to go. (It is most likely that 6 & Under swimmers are done by the mid-meet break.) Check in with a coach if you are unsure if your swimmer has completed all their events.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Bring normal swim gear: towels, swim caps, goggles and sunscreen.
  • Bring cash or have your bank’s zelle app ready for concessions stands! (we will have breakfast and lunch). We have new punch cards this week that the concession stand will keep on file to make it a little easier. Punch cards are available in $10/$20 increments. Zelle, Venmo or cash can be used for purchasing punch cards or individual items.
  • Bring folding chairs for everyone. If you have a good ground cover, bring that too--many kids like to sit on beach blankets and play card games. If you have a pop-up shade structure, you will want that too.

Remember, do not park in the Villas private streets. They will have your car towed. Also be aware of the fire lanes.

Thanks for reading all the details about our first HOME swim meet. Let us know if you have any questions!

Sincerely,

The Westchester Swim Reps
