Officials Training--All Parents Are Encouraged to Attend
There are two officials training meetings: Tuesday, May 15 (at 6:30 p.m. at the Dad's Club), and Thursday, May 17 (at 6:30 p.m. at the Westchester Pool). The reps are encouraging all parents to attend one of these training sessions, regardless of if you plan to serve as an official.
These sessions will help all parents understand what the officials are looking for when they are judging a race. If a swimmer performs a stroke illegally, he or she will get a DQ (disqualification) for that race. If you know what the DQ is for, you can help your swimmer work through the disappointment and also encourage them to work on the part of the stroke that needs to be corrected.
Time Trials are on Saturday--Sign Up to Attend and to Volunteer!
Our first official event is at 8 a.m. this coming Saturday. We will be holding our time trials, which is run as an official judged event.
You need to check in to the calendar in Swimtopia and state if your swimmer/s will be participating or not. In addition, you need to sign up for a volunteer job. Although the Dolphin registration form asks for your preference in jobs, we do not assign anyone to a job at a particular meet because a family might not be attending. The preference forms are used if slots are not filled, so we can ask people to take a shift in one of their preferred jobs. Please register and sign up for volunteer jobs by 3 p.m. on Friday.
Swimsuits Have Arrived!
Families who ordered their suits can pick them up at practice. Please pay by check or cash (exact change preferred, but please no bills over $20). Extra suits were ordered, so once all of the orders are fulfilled, you should be able to get a suit. If you have a suit that your swimmer has outgrown, you can still hand them in, and we'll see if we can sell them for you.
Team Photos are Monday, May 21
We will be taking our team photo on Monday, May 21. Our photographer will also take photos of your swimmers that you can purchase. We will be sending you the form and photo times soon.
MOD Pizza Fundraiser is ALL DAY, Tuesday May 22!
On May 22, MOD Pizza will be donating 20 percent of food and beverage sales for patrons who bring in the attached flier. Go for lunch--and then go for dinner! Remember, you must present the flier (either paper or digitally) for your purchase to be part of the fundraiser.
That's all for now. This week, be on the lookout for details on the time trials and the photo order form.
Thank you so much for your support of the Dolphins!
